Mobile home title question?
I am totally confused – went thru a divorce and my ex had handled all this stuff. Now I am finding a title to our house (mobile home) that still lists the 1st leinholder as the secured party, we had refinanced in 2003. the new lender is nowhere on the title I have in my hands — is this wrong? how would I fix it?

To make it more confusing the first bank has gone bankrupt, and is no longer in existence. My ex signed the title i have in possession over to me.

I agree with the second poster above.. In most states, mobile homes have titles like cars. It is completely different and separate from the real estate system. I doubt if a title company can be of any help. Check with Department of Motor Vehicles for the current state of the title. You may be looking at an old document.

You may just have the wrong paperwork. I would find a title company and ask them to do a title search to find out who actually is the lienholder.

you just need to get the title updated, your first lien holder should be able to provide a satisfaction of lien document, and in our state the dmv handles these titles like they are car titles go to your bank they should beable to point you in the right direction
